Improvisational Theater Games for Those in Transition The Professional Actors Tool
This fun-filled 60-90 minute workshop will introduce professional acting improvisation
techniques to the non-actor. Actors need to continually "put themselves out
there" to audition for work. Onstage, they need to be relaxed and open in the moment
yet ready to tackle anything that comes up. These skills are also essential to those in
transition who are out exploring new work opportunities. Often pitted against others in
competition in a war for talent, the work professional must offer notable interviewing,
presentation and "think on your feet" acumen. This course should help get the
juices flowing.
The games and exercises that are covered are simple and
non-threatening, geared towards warming up for a real performance. They cover body
relaxation, sound, moving in space, word play and humorous guessing games such as
"who am I?" The group will be limited to 18, exercises will be tailored to class
ability (and agility) and will include a question-and-answer period covering both the
concept of improvisation itself (i.e., always say "yes") and some practical
advice on resumes, job hunting and interviews. Seasoned and/or fledgling performers are
welcome! Wear comfortable clothes and bring a notebook.
Whose "Job Search" Is It Anyway?
In the spirit of the popular television game show, "Whose Line is it Anyway,"
this special event will present theater games and improvisational techniques to encourage
you to think fast on your feet, handle rejection with flair and glide from job to job with
maximum ease. Actors, comics and other entertainers know these techniques well - and so do
our presenters. |
